Today sharing a Typical Authentic and Traditional Bengali side dish. It goes very well with plain Rice. And one more thing I have to share with you definitely that it is basically a combo dish means in Bengal if you ask anybody that what goes perfectly with this side dish . From everyone you will get the same answer i.e. Urad dal (Biuli r Dal or Kolai er Dal). Yes urad dal but that is something different in style mean to say in bengal there is a specific way to make this dal. So I want to share with you this urad dal recipe too but in tomorrow.   So this will be just heavenly when you serve Potato in poppy seeds paste with Bengali Style Urad Dal and Plain Rice. Now this famous bengal delicacy is waiting for you. It is really easy and quick recipe. But without any compromising  with the Taste. Its my challenge! Potato In Poppy Seeds Paste | Aaloo Posto | A Traditional Bengali Side Dish

Prep time: 10 mins
Cook time: 15 mins

Ingredients
  • 2 Cups Potato Cubes Medium sizes
  • 1/2 Cup Poppy Seeds
  • 2 tsp Fennel Seeds
  • 2 Green chilli/ Red Chilli 
  • 2 pinch Asafoetida
  • 1 tsp Cumin Seeds
  • 1 tsp Ginger Paste
  • Salt to Taste
  • 3 tbsp Oil
Cooking Directions
  1. Soak Poppy seeds,green/Red chilli and cumin seeds with 1 pinch of salt in little warm water.
  2. Grind it into a paste until smooth.
  3. Now Heat Oil in a kadai.
  4. Add asafoetida and fennel seeds , till aroma comes.
  5. Add ginger paste and saute a while.
  6. Add Potato cubes and fry for sometimes.
  7. Add salt to taste.
  8. Cook potato till it becomes tender.
  9. Now add Poppy seeds paste and mix well.
  10. Cover with a lid for 2 mins.
  11. Switch off the gas.
  12. So delicious Potato in pappy seeds paste is ready.
Serve it with Bengali Urad dal and Plain rice.

Tip : I have used a pinch of Turmeric Powder in this specific dish. But some people do not add .
